Japanese Carmakers Reassert Authority
June 2011 | Industry Trend AnalysisAs Japanese bands dominate the competitive landscape in Taiwan's auto sector, their recovery from the disruption caused by the earthquake and tsunami in March is clearly evident in sales for early June. In the first 10 days of June, total sales rose 72.2% from the same period in May to 5,883 units with the top three Japanese brands achieving a strong recovery as supply chains come back into action. However, European luxury brands also achieved double-digit growth, despite the introduction of a new luxury tax.
