Tax Change Will Have Limited Effect On Sales
May 2011 | Industry NewsThe Hungarian government is looking to ban the use of foreign number plates for domestically owned cars, which BMI believes is aimed at bolstering confidence in the country's autos industry. New passenger car sales in the country have been struggling to recover from the slump in 2009, partly owing to the fiscal austerity as well as the household debt burden and partly due to the widespread practice of locals buying and registering their new cars in the neighbouring markets to avoid paying higher taxes.
